In business since 1966, MegaDiamond is shaping the future of engineered diamond solutions
HISTORY
The process for laboratory synthesis of diamond was developed in 1954 by Dr. H. Tracy Hall. Among the 19 US patents Dr. Hall was awarded during his career, he was most notably granted intellectual property rights for:
- “High Temperature High Pressure Apparatus” US Patent 2,941,248 (filed 1958)
- “Diamond Synthesis” US Patent 2,947,608, (filed 1955)
- “Method of Making Diamonds” US Patent 2,947,610 (filed 1958)
- “High Pressure Press” US Patent 2,918,699 (filed 1958)
Dr. Hall founded Mega Pressure Products Inc. (now MegaDiamond) in 1966 with fellow researchers Dr. Pope and Dr. Horton to commercialize his inventions. Under Dr. Hall’s leadership, the company was instrumental in the initial creation of polycrystalline diamond (PCD) materials and was among the first to realize the industrial applications of this new technology.
In the 1970s, MegaDiamond began developing and producing PCD products for the rock drilling and cutting tool industries. This marked a major milestone in company history and ushered in a new era of industrial diamond products.
TODAY
Since then, MegaDiamond has continued to deliver premium quality Industrial Diamond Products for the Oil & Gas, Road Construction, and Mining industries. The company has consistently been a leader in innovation and continues to push the envelope of what is possible with manufactured diamond products.
